In modern day society, over consuming is just part of life. There is a shop for everything and EVERTHING in the shops.

From the moment we wake up in the morning until the time I our head hits the pillow at night, we are making choices. What coffee cup are we going to use in the morning, what are we going to wear, how should I wear my hair? Should I wear lipstick? What COLOUR lipstick should I wear?
But what you will find is that 9 times out of 10, you will always reach for the same things, like the same coffee cup which you will undoubtedly Christen 'My Mug'.
At the end of the day, we are all very much creatures of habit and will always gravitate to the same things. But why do we allow ourselves so many options when we really, only just want 'my mug'? If you eliminate clutter and minimise choice, imagine the space your brain will have to focus on other things? Things that it really NEEDS to work on.
Here are 4 Things you can start eliminating or reducing from your life which will make you feel like you have so much more.
1. CHOICE
Just going to the shop to buy toothpaste, you are having to choose between 20 different tubes! High fluoride, low flouride, peppermint, or spearmint, large tube or small tube. You stand there, looking at the selection but what do you do?? You grab the Colgate Total you have used since you were still at home with your parents because it works, right? THEY ALL WORK but you go for what you are used to. Here is the thing - when you stand there you brain works in a way that although you know what you are going for, in the back of your mind you are starting to feel regret for the toothpaste you DIDN'T choose. Should I change? Is higher flouride better? The toothpaste choice is something you cannot do a lot about as marketing and advertising companies will always be throwing choice at you but you can control the choices you make at home. You can reduce your household items and products to the one brand of what you know works. Instead of having 'comfy trousers' and 'un-comfy trousers' why don't you keep only the ones that ARE comfortable and you know you will wear? There are nice comfy trousers out there, I promise. Instead of owning a bunch of mugs but having 'my mug'- Make ALL your mugs your 'MY mug' by keeping them all the same and reduce the 'regret' your poor brain feels when it has to make that choice, no matter how small.
2. SOCIAL MEDIA CLUTTER
We all follow accounts who we no longer have interest in. We have friends on FACEBOOK we don't know any more. You keep yourself so caught up in everyones life and business. This is cluttering up your space, your head, your time. Take 10 minutes to go through your accounts, unfollow the ones that no longer serve you. This will bring more focus on the ones that do serve you and you will have 'less choice' of what content you bring in your life and the stuff you really do enjoy won't feel so diluted.
3. MAKEUP and BEAUTY PRODUCTS
Listen guys...Make up goes off! It becomes rotten but for some unknown reason, we find them just too beautiful to throw away or say no to in the shops. Tell me something...Have you EVER, EVER finished an eye shadow pallet? When was the last time you completely used up a lip balm or vaseline? The answer is most likely, never. I know I haven't and this is not because I don't use it but more down to the fact I purchase or accumulate more of the same before it is finish. Do you realise that the plastic tube of lip salve you bought for £1 will be left on this planet FOREVER. It will never disintegrate, it will never be recycled. You will be long long gone and that one throw away tube of lip salve will STILL be here. Try being more conscious about your purchases and reduce your consumption by only buying what you need, using it up and replacing it only when it is finish.
4. CLOTHES
Answer this question - Do you ever open your wardrobe, look in and think "I have nothing to wear"?. That is because you most likely have TOO MUCH to wear. You have too many clothes and your poor brain doesn't want to make the choice so it decides you have nothing.
This falls into the same category as Make up and choice. REDUCE and reap the benefits. When you clear out your wardrobe and only have what you really love to wear, the items you reach for all of the time, clothes you feel comfortable AND look good in - you will open that wardrobe and feel like you have more. So much more choice. You know what goes with what and how you will feel when you wear it.
When you reduce your belongings to LESS you will feel you have so much MORE. More space, more time and a shed load more money.
